Crystal Mill in Colorado

The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin at Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. There had apparently been a place of worship here fron the C7th but it was a Norman, Robert FitzHarmon who founded this abbey. Building started in 1102 and it was consecrated in 1121, housing a community of Benedictine monks.After the Dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII it became the parish church. The tower which dominates the town is apparently the largest in England - and possibly Europe! Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

At the bottom of the garden in a country cottage we find a brick and tile construction which at one time housed the one and only toilet. This would have been an earth closet. Now most, like the one here provide storage for garden tools. Can you imagine having to make a visit in wet or very cold weather? And a bit cobweb-y and spidery in there to say the least! This image was captured when the foxgloves were just finishing flowering - still very fertile soil round here after all this time!

The Downtown Corner is an art print I created using a gothic oil technique. This technique uses strong brush strokes and warm earthen tones creating an old world look. This particular print depicts an architecturally rich older building on a street corner in downtown Seattle. At the end of the lane in Ipsden Hailey, South Oxfordshire, stands the King William IV pub. The building dates from the C17th and is a Grade II listed historic building. Hailey is a small hamlet on the edge of the Chiltern Hills overlooking the Thames Valley. From here you can see as far as Didcot and Wallingford - the local town. Not many cars rushing by here as this is as far as you can drive. After this it's walking or cycling only! The image has a coloured pencil finish.

The world is a beautiful place and a lot of the land is being taken over by more economically developed cities. I incorporated, photography, collage, illustration, typography and layout together to produce three pieces of work that show you the world being engulfed by the 21st century.

An impressionist style viewThe Belem Tower situated by the shoreline of the River Tagus in Lisbon, Portugal. This fortification dates from the C16th and was designed both as a fortress and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon and was commissioned by King Philip1 of Portugal in 1589.During its time it has not only served as a fortress but also as a prison and a custom house. Looking over the town square to the monastery at Alcobaça in Portugal. This was the first Gothic building to be constructed in the country. It was founded by King Alfonso Henriques in 1147 as a church and became a Cistercian monastery in 1153. It was finally consecrated in 1262. The monks here dedicated their lives to meditation and writing illuminated manuscripts including a history of Portugal. This fine building occupies one side of the town's wide and elegant plaza.
