Maloney's Racing Slicks was a top independent tire manufacturer in the 60s. They specialized in slicks for drag racing and early NASCAR as well as streetable 'cheater slicks,' all from their small facility right on Anaheim Boulevard in Southern California.

This Pennsylvania-based performance legend started out as a maker of motor mounts for engine swaps and floor-shifters back in 1958, but they steadily expanded their product line through the 1960s. Hurst wheels, Line/Loc, and Swifter Shifter gloves were developed among other items, and later, Airheart Brakes and the Schiefer Manufacturing Company, which made clutches and other driveline components, were acquired. Hurst Performance floor-shifters were skillfully engineered, reliable and stirring in appearance, plus, their marketing was in tune with the times, catering to the flourishing muscle car movement of the 1960s.

Among the dealership-based supercar builders of the 1960s and ’70s — including Yenko, Nickey, Grand Spaulding Dodge, and Royal Pontiac, most of these dealerships of the muscle era offered what was known as a 'supercar' service, which essentially provided a brand new, stock-bodied vehicle with plenty of extra horses, using either a highly tuned factory power plant or a high-performance crate engine. Baldwin Chevrolet took a slightly different approach, taking new Chevys sold through is dealership in Baldwin, New York (Long Island), and then delivered them to Joel Rosen’s Motion Performance speed shop (also in Baldwin), where they became street-legal, turn-key drag cars. many of which had optional wild custom body kits

John Bandimere, Sr. built his first race car in 1937, an old coupe running a flathead V8, which he raced in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to a ninth place finish. Always known as an innovator, Bandimere went on to become a nationally known expert on supercharging, and began manufacturing and selling speed parts as Bandimere Auto Parts in Denver, Colorado. In 1958, Bandimere purchased land just west of Denver, where he and his family began constructing a drag strip that was to be used to augment their auto parts business. That small drag strip on the hill would become Bandimere Speedway, or as many call it, Thunder Mountain. The drag strip would grow and eventually eclipse the speed shop, with Bandimere focusing on its operation full time.

Venolia Pistons entered the speed equipment market back in 1946 and went on to play an integral part throughout decades of racing history. From countless speed records, both on land and at sea, to numerous national and international racing championships, Venolia Pistons has more than proven their mettle.

All cars that go over 150 mph in the quarter mile are required to have and use a chute, and dual chutes are required for those who go over 200 mph. But why parachutes, why not bigger brakes? When it comes to stopping a race car after reaching triple digit speeds on the drag strip, nothing beats a parachute (or two if you're a real monster). At those speeds, even the best of mechanical brakes can't bring the car to a stop without overheating, so parachutes employ simple physics to create massive amounts of drag to help bring these land missiles to a stop inside the shutdown area.

Chevy introduced a longer El Camino in 1968, based on the Chevelle station wagon/four-door sedan wheelbase (116 in, overall length: 208 in); it also shared Chevelle Malibu exterior and interior trims. The interior was revamped including cloth and vinyl or all-vinyl bench seats and deep twist carpeting. All-vinyl Strato bucket seats and center console were a $111 upgrade and power front disc brakes and Positraction were optional. A new, high-performance Super Sport SS396 version was launched for '68 which was actually a separate model (the "SS-396") and not just a trim level or options package. The Turbo-Jet 396 was offered in 325 bhp, 350 bhp, and 375 bhp versions.

More American Graffiti is set over the course of four New Year's Eve holidays beginning in 1964 and tells four separate stories, one of which is that of John Milner, the head honcho of the racing scene in the first film, as his drag racing career advances. John's story follows him and the Milner Racing Team crew through a series of personal and professional ups and downs, culminating in a fatal finale. This Milner Racing Team design is a replica based on a screen used tee, ensuring it's accurate to those seen in the film.

Back in the mid '40s, racers and hot rodders Red Wilson and Tony Capana joined forces to start a speed shop in Los Angeles. They called it WILCAP – the first three letters of their last names – and before too long, their shop was well known by gear heads in So Cal and beyond thanks to their innovative products and extensive mail order catalog. In addition to distributing a wide array of speed parts, WILCAP was probably best known for their machining their own line of custom flywheels, transmission adapters, and engine hardware. Eventually, WILCAP was also the place to get nitromethane and alcohol fuels. They made their own custom blends and sold them by the gallon and by the barrel, making getting out to the track that much easier.

Great Lakes Dragaway is a quarter mile dragstrip in the Town of Paris, Kenosha County, near Union Grove, Wisconsin. The drag strip opened in 1955, making it the 2nd oldest continuously operating drag strip in the country after Inyokern Airport closed. #1 is Redding Raceway in California, which opened in 1953. In the early days of the track, races were started by a flagman (before drag strip Christmas Trees) and cars sometimes raced four abreast.

The York US30 Dragway was located at the York Airport in Thomasville, Pennsylvania from '65 until '79 by Oscar Hostetter. The South Penn Hot Rod Council first ran drag races at the airport site on a limited schedule from '55 until '59, when promoter Bill Holz assumed control in '60, operating it as York US30 Drag-O-Way. Hostetter took over again in '65, operating the facility as the York US30 Dragway, and putting on the biggest event in drag racing history – the 1965 Super Stock Nationals. Others followed, but none have attained the notoriety or attendance of the '65 event, which is still the largest single day drag race in American history.

As legend has it, Racer Brown wanted a better performing cam for his racer, but wanted something different than what was available, and decided to learn how to make his own and actually pulled it off, eventually creating new grinds for friends and club members. Turns out that he was considerably better at making cams than he would have guessed. Each grind he designed for each application was better than the last, and before he knew it, he had a full time business and Racer Brown Cams 1960 became synonymous with high performance racing engines throughout the '60s and well into the '70s.

The ”Big 4” American auto manufacturers couldn’t agree on too many things in the 1950s and ’60s, but one thing they could agree on, however, was the Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed transmission. Each of the manufacturers used the T-10 at some point during these years and even into the 70s in some applications. Because the transmission was used in so many production vehicles, they were easy to find, as well as being a reliable and strong four-speed, sought after by many racing enthusiasts of the time. They are still very popular with classic car and muscle car restorers today with the most popular version of the T-10 among enthusiasts being the Power Brute Super T-10 which used a 26-spline input shaft and were built to withstand the higher rpms.

Based in the town of Norphlet in Union County, Arkansas, Macmillan Oil Company began producing their Ring Free line of motor oils in 1923. The company was highly successful in promoting their products through sponsorships of motorsports ranging from flat track motorcycle racing and powerboats, to air racing and grand prix events, leveraging them to make their 'race proven' claims. Ring Free products continued to be popular throughout the '60s and '70s, but in as more high-tech formulas from new companies arrived in the '80s, Macmillan Oil Company's fortunes began to wane, and by the end of the decade, they had ceased operations.

R.A. and F.D. Stranahan are essentially the founders of Champion Spark Plug Company. Sort of. At the very least, they ended up with the patent on the Champion name which they legally and wisely used to eventually create the largest spark plug manufacturing company in the world. But it certainly didn’t start out that way. More than 20 thousand dollars in debt, and with a company that was fledgling along at best, the brothers had little choice but to move to Toledo when Willys-Overland Motor Company offered R.A. and F.D. a contract under which Champion would become the exclusive spark plug of automobiles manufactured at Willys-Overland. The deal came with the stipulation that the Stranahans must make Toledo their home.
