From its first issue in 1955 until it's last in 1971, Drag News was known as the bible for drag racers and their fans wanting to keep up on wins, losses, and records across the country as well as seeing ads for the latest go fast goodies from the preeminent builders of the day. Covering the earliest days of the sport all the way through the golden age of drag racing, Drag News was there and while many others tried to get a piece of the action, Drag News maintained it's spot as top dog throughout it's entire run.

When the Dart was introduced in 1960, it wasn’t intended as a premium performance car. In fact, the idea of a muscle car had yet to be pitched and the Dart was simply a new budget model, though it would eventually get several performance and appearance packages like the Swinger and GTS. In 1971, the Dart received yet another package offering by way of the Demon and Demon 340. But the Demon series wasn’t just another Dart trim level. The aptly named Demon 340 was packing a 340ci V8 featured a hot cam, hydraulic lifters, and a 10.5:1 compression ratio and although it wasn’t of the big block variety like many competitors were equipping their vehicles with, it certainly gave any competitor a run for its money.

Founded in 1925, Mallory initially developed OEM ignition systems for many early cars, but by the '50s, they were known for their aftermarket systems for hot rods and drag racers who needed more oomph to get their high-compression engines to light and for those needing more adjustability for fine-tuning and keeping their monster motors humming along. Mighty Mallory was a fun superhero inspired character introduced in 1962 and was most commonly found on decals handed out at drag racing events.

John Bandimere, Sr. built his first race car in 1937, an old coupe running a flathead V8, which he raced in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to a ninth place finish. Always known as an innovator, Bandimere went on to become a nationally known expert on supercharging, and began manufacturing and selling speed parts as Bandimere Auto Parts in Denver, Colorado. In 1958, Bandimere purchased land just west of Denver, where he and his family began constructing a drag strip that was to be used to augment their auto parts business. That small drag strip on the hill would become Bandimere Speedway, or as many call it, Thunder Mountain. The drag strip would grow and eventually eclipse the speed shop, with Bandimere focusing on its operation full time.
