The Hamilton Redbirds were a minor league baseball team that played in the New York–Penn League from 1988 to 1992. They were affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals and played their home games at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario. The Redbirds were founded in 1988, but the franchise itself was founded in 1958 as the Auburn Yankees. It moved to Erie, Pennsylvania for the 1981 season, beginning its longtime affiliation with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Erie Cardinals played at Ainsworth Field in Erie, Pennsylvania from 1981 to 1987. The Erie Cardinals then relocated to Hamilton, Ontario to become the Hamilton Redbirds. The Hamilton Redbirds set the all-time record for winning percentage by a St. Louis Cardinals minor league.

Pelee Island sits in the western half of Lake Erie in Ontario, Canada. European settlement of the island began in 1788 when the land was leased to Thomas McKee by the Ojibwa and Odawa tribes. William McCormick purchased the island in 1823, and it was incorporated as an independent municipality in 1868. At 16 square miles, Pelee Island is the largest island in Lake Erie and also the southernmost populated point in Canada. According to the 2016 census, the island has a population of 235 permanent residents living in 90 households. Connected to the Canadian and United States mainland by ferry service, the population can swell to over 1,500 during the summer months, with more than three thousand people on long weekends.

Point Place Lighthouse is a Historical landmark located at Bay View Park in Toledo, Ohio. Standing near the western most point of Lake Erie, this ornamental lighthouse tower was completed and dedicated in 2008.
