The Munsters is an American sitcom depicting the home life of a family of benign monsters. The series stars Fred Gwynne as Frankenstein's monster Herman Munster, Yvonne De Carlo as his vampire wife Lily,Al Lewis as Grandpa the aged vampire Count Dracula, Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as their niece Marilyn, and Butch Patrick as their werewolf-like son Eddie. The family pet, named "Spot", was a fire-breathing dragon. Produced by the creators of Leave It to Beaver, the series was a satire of American suburban life, the wholesome television family fare of the era and traditional monster movies. It achieved higher Nielsen ratings than did the similarly macabre-themed The Addams Family

Herman is a lovable, good-natured, and clumsy buffoon. Despite having been alive for over a century, he behaves rather childishly, often throwing temper tantrums, punctuated with thundering animalish roaring. In spite of his childish behaviors, he is a caring father figure to his son Eddie and a loving, devoted husband. He is very kind to everyone, but he is also very naive, often misunderstanding situations or falling for various schemes. He occasionally has problems recognizing when someone has malicious or dishonest intentions towards him.

Sure, Grandpa's Junior Vampires of America Club MAY have made sense had it been in the 60s when “The Munsters” was in production or even shortly thereafter, but for kids in the 80s when this 900 number 'club' was being advertised? They were probably like who the hell is this old kook and why does he want to charge me $2 a minute to listen to him tell stories over the phone? Freak. Nonetheless, it's yet another pop culture oddity that is was lost to the sands of time... until now!
