I walked searching out the beauty where I grew up in San Diego beside this tide pool on the edge of the continent. Here is a moment in time when the shapes, lines and rhythms of life are frozen for us to contemplate. I am always awestruck to see the basis of all art in Nature, the lines that direct my eye, the shapes arranged in relationships which tug ineffably to something in my soul. I find the subtle and the dramatic contrasts between light and dark reveal building blocks of Creation and therefore a kinship between myself and the elements in this image.
