Rocky Mountain High is a 1972 folk song about the serenity found in the Rocky Mountains. The song was controversial when the FCC was permitted by a legal ruling to censor music deemed to promote drug abuse. Numerous radio stations cautiously banned it until the son'g author explained that the "high" was an innocent description of the sense of peace he found in the Rockies. Of course, that doesn't stop recreational drug users still maintaining an association with the song, one that was only reinforced when Colorado legalized marijuana in 2012.
