What an amazing sight this was. The few of us that were on Mon Repos beach late in the afternoon were treated to the sight of four hatchlings, stragglers from a nest that hatched the night befoe, as they made their first run to the sea. This poor girl in particular got tossed around by the waves, but eventually she made it out to the open sea. Hopefully she'll be returning back to the same beach in 30 years time to lay her own batch of hatchlings!

Yesterday was the first day I've headed out for both a sunrise and a sunset shoot. While the sunrise was definitely more spectacular -- and the wake up time made for a very tired photographer come sunset -- it was still well worth clomping out through the mud to see this view!

The majestic Belmore Falls in the Morton National Park near Robertson in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. This lookout is a short walk on the track from the carpark. Located on the Barrengarry Creek, the two falls measure almost 100 metres as the waters tumble into the valley below. Photographed with a Canon 400D with telephoto lens. The emu in the sky. At the Elvina Engraving Site in the Kuring-Gai Chase National Park, Sydney, is an engraving of the emu in the sky, a constellation recognised by many Aboriginal groups across Australia, that is formed of dark clouds in the Milky Way, rather than the stars as in most constellations. When the constellation is above the carving in the rock the local Aboriginal People knew it was time to collect emu eggs. The head of the emu is the Coal Sack, the dark area near the Southern Cross, its neck passing through the stars called the pointers and the body is in the constellation of Scorpio.
