Farm in the Valley is a sepia tone photographic art print of a farm nestled in a valley. I was on a photo shoot of farms in the Amana Colonies area of Iowa in a February time frame. I had taken a side road into the hills surrounding the Iowa River when I came across this scene. I used a sepia tone finish on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally. Log homestead from turn of the century

A large 2 story country red brick Italianate style home, with a beautifully detailed porch encircles three sides of the home.The house is symmetrical with decorative paired brackets around the eaves and a projecting front bay, which extends into an attic dormer through the hip roof over the ornate covered entry. This historic home is located in the Village of Alton, Ontario Canada. It was built for ‘Beaver Knitting Mill’ owner William Algie (circa 1881) and his wife Phebe Ward.

The Great Court Garden The Great Court Garden at Athelhampton House, near Tolpuddle (Dorset, England) features a number of carefully trimmed, pyramid-shaped yew trees. The House itself dates from 1485 and was restored following the purchase of the estate by Alfred Cart de Lafontaine in 1891. Date: 1st April 2018.

Back in 1978 I found some old sketches of Houses and villages in Kent, England. The sketches judging by the clothing of the people in them must have gone back to the 17 or 1800's. I decided to turn the sketches into paintings and this is the result, the painting you see before you. painted on a 16 by 20 inch canvas in oils. It is believed to be Charing in Kent and the old church of St Peter and St Paul.
