The overcast sky lit up in gorgeous blue tones well before sunrise at Redcliffe Jetty. Taken as part of the Queensland Instameet world record attempt.

Held annually, in February, is the street carnival, Heraklion, Crete.

This image was taken in Depoe Bay, OR on August 21, 2017. To capture different aspects of the total eclipse, I set my cameras up for bracketed exposures, over and under exposing the images by 2 and 4 stops. To capture any Red Prominences (the bright, gaseous features extending outward from the Sun's surface, and into the Sun's corona) that might be visible, this image was underexposed by 2 stops. This underexposure allowed the camera to capture any of the bright prominences, at the expense of not being able to capture the less bright corona. In this image, taken seconds before the end of totality, you can see several prominences, most notably the one at 1 o'clock.

Unfortunately, after enjoying the blue skies over North Stradbroke Island in the early afternoon, the clouds descended and stayed there. We were lucky enough that it didn't rain on us, but it did force us to recompose the shots we'd planned to take under the full moon!

Standing at the north end of the West Harbor Breakwater in Lorain Harbor with its light in tact remains a silent reminder of Lorain�s historic relationship with Lake Erie shipping. The date of 1917 is the most accurate available for the construction of the current Lorain Lighthouse structure.

Taken this summer (or winter) during my trip to New Zealand. I love it there, beautiful landscapes. This is an example.

A wheatfield at Blyth in Northumberland was just about ready to harvest, and the image was shot looking west over the golden wheat, past a lovely tree to the blue clouded sky. I liked the layers of gold and blue making up this image and the lovely light made for a colourful image

This is a typical impression of what the rural Dutch landscape looks like. Flat and boring and always a sign of humanity in sight.

This image was taken in Depoe Bay, OR on August 21, 2017. It had been clear the 3 days prior to the eclipse, but we woke up to a very overcast sky, there on the coast, the morning of the eclipse. I almost didn't set up my cameras, but finally did about an hour before the start. This was taken about a minute into totality, and was overexposed by 4 stops in order to capture the corona (sun's atmosphere). I feel very fortunate to get this shot, since the sky was still very hazy at the time. I have no idea if it would be have been different, had the sky been clear. The stormy seas of the Pacific crashing onto the Giants Causeway-like rocks at Fingal Head, NSW. This scene became much starker and end-of-the-world like when converted to monochrome!

Cu is the symbol for the element Copper. Taken on an overcast day, you can see the detail, and color variations, clearly in the gorget of this male Allen's Hummingbird. On a sunny day, what is copper colored here, would be bright red. It would be so bright that most detail would be lost. This guy likes my yard. He has been hanging out for months. Usually males stop by for only a couple days. There are a lot of Allen's girls in the yard these days, so maybe it's a 'birds and bees' sort of thing.
