Beefy The Cow 1981 Pin
Cow Pin
designed and sold by JCD666
Beefy The Cow was the ill-fated mascot of Rax Roast Beef in a time when restaurant mascots based on the very animal whose meat you were consuming was considered normal. He could be found on kids meals, hand puppets, and stickers as well as showing up in person as a guy in a furry suit. The chain would eventually swap Beefy out for Uncle Alligator which was slightly less confusing to kids, but was a rather random choice nonetheless. Founded in 1967 in Springfield, Ohio, Rax Roast Beef was originally known as JAX Roast Beef. In 1969, Rax was sold to General Foods, who then changed the name of the restaurants to RIX Roast Beef. They ran it until 1978 until just 10 franchise stores owned by the Restaurant Administration Corporation were left.
