Kiki’s Bistro was a comfortable French restraurant with a country atmosphere that attracted an eclectic array of food-lovers, including celebrities, politicians, and acclaimed chefs. Prior to opening Kiki's Bistro in 1990, Georges "Kiki" Cuisance opened Le Bordeaux at Madison and State in 1969. The restaurant attained a revered status among Chicagoans, and when "Kiki" moved his kitchen to its River North digs, avid regulars and Francophiles followed without hesitation. In an official proclamation, the City of Chicago praised Mr. Cuisance for being at the forefront of introducing French cuisine and savoir-vivre to Chicago's developing dining scene.
