LIFE CAN BE DRAINING Pin

When I first took this photo, some months ago... I first thought that this monitor lizard was peculiarly sticking his head down the drain to forage for ants, or access freshwater after the rains. After a minute or so I realised that the life of this creature had quite literally drained away... yet it looked so perfectly poised and almost alive. I continued my journey onwards and later returned to see that, still there was no movement. Maybe it had just got trapped or been bitten by a deadly poisonous snake which we sometimes find in the area...? For whatever reason it was, in a strange way it makes 'a perfectly abstract' photo ~ hopefully not too objectionable!
