Akron Canton and Youngstown Railroad Pin
Acy Railroad Pin
designed and sold by Turboglyde
Founded in 1907, The Akron, Canton and Youngstown Railroad was organized with the intent to connect Akron, the rubber capital of the world with Canton, a hub of general manufacturing, and Youngstown, a steel producer. Initially a 7.5 mile terminal operation, AC&Y was well managed and efficient. AC&Y acquired Northern Ohio Railway in 1920 and became one of the most profitable Class I railroads in the country successfully competing with larger Eastern carries like PRR and B&O. AC&Y remained an entirely independent railroad until 1964 when it was sold to the Norfolk & Western and remained a subsidiary until 1982. Ironically AC&Y never did connect with Canton and Youngstown.
