A View of East Looe The small fishing port and resort of Looe (Cornwall, England), about 20 miles west of Plymouth, is divided in two by the river from which the town takes its name. Dwellings line the hillside either side of the river, as if in competition for the best sea views. Just off the coast, and easily accessible by boat, is St. George's Island (or Looe island), which played its part in the smuggling trade in days gone by.
