Cambois is a former mining village in South East Northumberland situated between the mouth of the River Wansbeck in the north and the estuary of the River Blyth in the south. There has been a settlement in Cambois since medieval times but the village had its heyday in the middle of the nineteenth century with the establishment of Cambois Colliery. A lot of the spoil from the colliery ended upon the beach but with the end of mining, the beach is now pristine and very popular with dog walkers. This image was taken just after daybreak on a cold January morning.
