Newbridge Pin
Almond Viaduct Pin
designed and sold by tomg
An aerial shot of Newbridge, a dormitory suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland. These days the village is surrounded by industry. To the right and slighly below the centre line you can see the New Bridge over the River Almond that the village is named after. At the top of the shot you can see the impressive Almond Viaduct with 36 arches of 50 foot span, averaging 70 foot in height. The viaduct, built between 1838 and 1842, is considered to be one of the finest stone railway viaducts in Britain. The viaduct carries the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway.
