The birth of Venus (1480) by Sandro Botticelli Pin

Birth Of Venus Pin

designed and sold by  Comrade Jammy

"The Birth of Venus" is a famous painting created by the Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli, around 1484-1486. The painting is currently housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. This masterpiece is celebrated for its exquisite beauty, mythological theme, and symbolic elements. The painting depicts the goddess Venus, standing nude on a giant seashell, being blown ashore by the winds, specifically the West Wind (Zephyr) and the nymph Chloris. The scene is derived from classical mythology, particularly from the ancient Roman poet Ovid's work, "Metamorphoses." According to the myth, Venus was born from the sea foam and carried to the shore.
