The United States Army Finance Corps is a combat service support (CSS) branch of the United States Army. The Finance Corps traces its foundation to 16 June 1775, when the Second Continental Congress established the office of Paymaster General of the Army. The Pay Department became a separate department in 1816, and the Finance Department was created by law on 1 July 1920. It became the Finance Corps in 1950. It is responsible for financial operations, most notably payroll, and resource management.

The 2nd Battalion, 123rd Armor Regiment was originally constituted on 22 May 1846 in the Kentucky Militia as the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry and the 2d Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. The 123d Armor, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System, to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Medium Tank Battalions (3d Medium Tank Battalion ordered into active federal service 1 October 1961 at home stations; 2d Medium Tank Battalion ordered into active federal service 15 October 1961 The unit was reorganized on 6 April 1964 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions; on 1 March 1968 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions; on 1 November 1980 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 149th Armored Brigade (Separate)

The 149th Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Army, provided by the Kentucky Army National Guard. It was originally constituted 22 May 1846 in the Kentucky Militia as the 1st Kentucky Cavalry and the 2d Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. After a year of Federal service (June 1846 to June 1847), it was reorganized on 15 June 1860 in the Kentucky State Guard as the Lexington Battalion (which included the Lexington Rifles). It was then expanded in November 1860 to comprise the Lexington Battalion and the Kentucky River Battalion. The Lexington and Kentucky River Battalions, antecedents to the 149th Infantry, are especially notable in military history.

The Custer's Last Stand design commemorates the events of the Battle of Little Bighorn and the massacre of the 7th Cavalry and the hands of Sitting Bull's Lakota tribe. The Battle of Little Bighorn saw the confederated Lakota tribes along with the Northern Cheyenne defeat the 7th Cavalry under Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer on June 25, 1876, annihilating Custer's battalion, an event that came to be known as Custer's Last Stand.
