A hand drawn death's head hawkmoth. I watch the TV series Hannibal from start to finish at least once every year - it is literally the best tv show that has ever existed. Beautiful, terrifying and beguiling... much like the moth.

After nearly dying, Maria Durand has become obsessed with death. Consulting with a variety of so-called experts, she becomes intrigued when she hears of a botanist who claims to have the answers to her questions. Is this man merely a fraud? Or has he truly seen the face of death?

I saw a butterfly recently that had beautiful faces in the wings. I decided to do my own version with the Death's Head Moth and some skulls. I forgot how much I enjoy working on skulls.
