The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) and Horsehead Nebula (B33 against IC 434) are beautiful emission and dark nebulas located near Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion's Belt. Nebulas are 900-1500 light years away from Earth. Amateur image consists of Hydrogen and RGB subframes, total exposure time 18h. HaRGB combination image.

Gas and dust storm near Sadr star in the constellation of Cygnus. The nebula is 5,000 light years away from Earth. Amateur image consists of: Ha: 73 x 600s, OIII: 47 x 900s, SII: 49 x 600s. Total exposure time: 32h05m, HST palette image.

The image displays a dramatic and devastating scene where a planet resembling Earth is partially engulfed in flames and appears to be disintegrating. The right side of the planet remains intact, showing the familiar blue oceans and clouds, while the left side is being consumed by fire and has turned into a charred and molten surface. Debris and fragments are scattered in the surrounding space, and the fiery side trails a blaze, suggesting immense speed and motion, as if the planet is plummeting through space. The starry backdrop hints at the vastness of the cosmos, and the overall mood is one of catastrophe and urgency.

Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888, Caldwell 27) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, formed by stellar wind. It is about 5000 light years away from Earth, and consist of hydrogen and sulfur gas. Amateur image is bi-color component of Ha: 43 x 900s and SII: 43 x 900s. Total exposure time: 21h30m.

As I contemplated the deep space image of the nebula in Orion, I made marks with colored pencils to help me explore the intricate clouds of dust and gas which coalesce to make new stars. This is not a drawing of the nebula, but a "variation" on that site of creation. Get a photo of the nebula and see the differences.
