Alan Bennett (born 9 May 1934) is an English playwright, screenwriter, actor, and author. He was born in Leeds and attended Oxford University, where he studied history and performed with the Oxford Revue. He stayed to teach and research medieval history at the university for several years. His collaboration as writer and performer with Dudley Moore, Jonathan Miller and Peter Cook in the satirical revue Beyond the Fringe at the 1960 Edinburgh Festival brought him instant fame. He gave up academia, and turned to writing full-time, his first stage play Forty Years On being produced in 1968.

Chaco Chicken is the fictional poultry producer from "Our Town," the twenty-fourth episode of the second season of The X-Files that aired May 12, 1995. The episode finds special agents Mulder and Scully in Dudley, Arkansas, as they investigate a missing poultry inspector. The case takes a twist when another poultry worker is shot after she goes insane, leading Mulder to believe that certain townspeople are cannibals. The idea for this 'Monster-of-the-Week' episode came about while the writer was researching the Ancestral Puebloans for the second-season finale. He learned that archaeologists had discovered boiled human bones in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, leading him to use "Chaco" as the name of the chicken plant, and it's proprietor.

Shot in the heavily industrial West-Midland of England in what was at one time rightly called the "Black Country". Specifically Dudley. The industry has mostly gone, but the name remains. The advertising hording rum "Distilled in Hell" seemed to go well with the black clouds and the whole scene on the edge of the Wolverhampton to Birmingham canal.
