Charlottetown Memorial Fountain PEACE Debra Martz I like how one lone leaf had fallen and landed just below PEACE so I kept the autumn color of it. The Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Fountain in Charlottetown is Canada's first memorial of its kind, honoring individuals in the armed forces, law enforcement, peacekeeping organizations, or firefighting services who risked their lives in the line of duty. Originally designed for an Auckland location, this was the first Wellington Sculpture Trust project. "The sculpture... started life as an idea for three abstract shapes interacting with themselves and their intermingling spaces. The water was always a part of it, evoking feelings of rocks and the sea. The name came suddenly in a moment of inspiration!... I have always been fascinated by the Albatross, its size, its power and its awesome grace. My sculpture is large and white and of the sea. There is a realistic albatross there too, as I realised when the sculpture was being built. I now think of it as a lament for the albatro...

It was pretty much impossible to get photos of The Louvre on a mild spring day without lots of people in them, but I tried a few without too much interrupting traffic. Nights were better. I like the splash of the fountain in this shot. I made several trips to The Louvre during a short trip because the architecture & history of this place inspired me. Canon 400D. Paris, France. Latif’s Restaurant & Fountain opened their doors in 1960 in the heart of town on Golden State Blvd. and has been in business under several owners and a minor name change or two ever since.
