Historic Pins and Buttons

Animals, both real and fantastic, occupied an important place in medieval art and thought. Artists readily employed animal motifs, along with foliate designs, as part of their decorative vocabulary.

From 1927-1939, Lincoln adopted a greyhound dog as its hood ornament. It was chosen because they felt it typified speed, stamina and beauty.

One of the most picturesque of the Lake Erie lighthouses located in Marblehead Ohio. Marblehead Lighthouse is located on the northern shores of Ohio along the Lake Erie shoreline in Marblehead, Ohio. It is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the American side of the Great Lakes and has been a guiding light along the rocky shores of Marblehead Peninsula since 1822.

There is a small, unassuming wooden lighthouse at the westernmost point of the Mystic Seaport. It has never been an official aid to navigation. Rather, it is a replica of the current Brant Point Lighthouse in Nantucket that was built in 1901.

The wonderful, historic city of Lisbon (Portugal) is the subject for this latest collage. The 3 images on the left were captured in May 2022 during my all too brief visit there. The image on the right is included by kind permission of angel1.
