In 1998, the Will County Cheetahs of the Heartland League moved to Midlothian, IL, where they became the Cook County Cheetahs. Managed by Brian Dayett, they were 23-11 in the first half, a half-game behind the top Tennessee Tomahawks. They were last in the second half at 14-18 but stunned the Tomahawks in back-to-back games in the playoffs for the title. The Cheetahs were last in attendance (10,552) among the clubs that survived the season, the last for the league. All-Stars were 2B Neil Bradshaw (.264) and P Derek Santiago (8-3 with a league-leading 2.17 ERA).

The San Diego Mariners were an ice hockey team based in San Diego that played in the World Hockey Association. They played from 1974 to 1977. Their home ice was San Diego Sports Arena. Previous to being in San Diego, the team was known as the New York Raiders, New York Golden Blades, and Jersey Knights.

The Chicago Winds was the World Football League's ill-fated 1975 successor to the Chicago Fire. The team was so named because Chicago was nicknamed "The Windy City." The Winds played at Soldier Field and the team was assigned to the WFL's Western Division for 1975 (the league having shrunk from 12 franchises to 11, and from three divisions to two).

The San Jose Missions baseball teams of 1977 to 1981 were actual two separate franchises. The first was a Class AAA Pacific Coast League, formerly the Sacramento Solons (1974-1976) of the PCL. The team was an Oakland A’s farm club in 1977 and a Seattle Mariners affiliate in 1978. The team was then sold and moved to Utah to become the Ogden A’s. Then a Class A team stepped in and became the San Jose Missions, retaining the original affiliation with the Mariners. This team survived until the 1981 season when the Montreal Expos took over San Jose’s California League affiliation. The ball club was re-branded as the San Jose Expos for the 1982 campaign.

Jack Roosevelt Robinson was an American professional baseball player who became the first African American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the modern era.

Chicago Cubs

The Wilkes-Barre Barons were a basketball team from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The Barons played between 1933 and 1980 in different American leagues. The team won 11 titles during this time, including while playing in the American Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Association. The last season the team went by the name Pennsylvania Barons.
