Linework Pins and Buttons

Another pattern of mine. This is the second version out of three colorways.

Everyone needs somebody to tell their secrets to! My wonderful husband gave me a wacom tablet for Christmas!!! I am having SO MUCH FUN. I have wanted one for the longest time, but was too scared to get one in case I found I was useless with it. Well, I know I have a way to go, and this is only my second attempt with it, but I love using it, so much... I feel like a whole new world just opened up to me. (As you can imagine, the laundry is piling up, the dishes are begging to be done, the dust is collecting in the corners of my house ... and I just don't care.) This is based on a photograph that I took of my daughter, Mila (6).

This is Reilly, nearly 5 years old. He's great, I love him. : ) This is my 40th work for my 52 week challenge. FORTY!! Wow. Only 12 weeks to go!

How affectionate do these two look? Just seeing them in my garden made me smile. This is my 44th work in my 52 week challenge.

I’m really enjoying experimenting with watercolour & acrylic inks, using washes to explore texture & colour. The leaves were hand drawn with an ink pen, a kind of meditative, zentangle / doodle drawing – very relaxing to do.

This is our most elderly little dog, Lucky. She is a Miniature Daschund and is now 8 years old. She is not fond of modelling and has, up until now, not made her appearance in my portfolio. She keeps to herself mostly, finding sunny corners of the house to while away the winter days, but will come running, full of joy and affection, if anybody calls her name. ... not when cats have wings. : ) Yesterday was a lazy Saturday with gloomy, rainy weather, so I sat and doodled and this is what I drew. Who knew there was a winged wildcat in my pencil just waiting to get out? The wings are transparent and will change colour according to the colour of the tee. Hand drawn with graphite pencil, coloured in Photoshop.

Some happy Sunday pattern play - vibrant burnt orange on textured grey.

I think in doodles. Ink in my veins. : ) A second color version. This floral / nature pattern was hand drawn in pencil and then colored digitally in shades of blue. A design with lots of details and a Moroccan feel to the shapes and rhythm of the repeat.

I hand painted some Moroccan inspired shapes with watercolor paints and put them together in Photoshop to make a repeat. It took a little while but was very satisfying. I think I'd like to do a series of watercolor patterns ... But then again, I'd like to go to Paris, and that's probably not going to happen, either.

This is Hudson (4) and Belle (who is not so tiny any more.) Hudson keeps doing these little doodles and drawings and bringing them to me and asking me to "put them in the computer". While I love him to bits and think his creativity is great, I do kind of get tired of scanning endless abstract squiggles. So I thought I'd combine one of his artworks with one of mine, to make it more interesting for me... ( : So this is a portrait of the artist and his art.

Had a lot of fun with this, messing around with colours and patterns (as usual.)

It is a cold and gloomy winter's day here, this is my antidote. Indulging my inner colour addict. :)
