I had just bought the Bardot pastel brush set for Procreate and was dying to use them when I came across an acrylic painting I did several years ago. It inspired me to try to do a similar scene digitally using the Bardot brushes.

Taking the oil pastel source of "Stormy Flow" farther, I have made it a vertical mosaic. Look closely and enjoy the amazing detail of this mosaic achieved by the "cutout" technique in Photoshop. The storminess in this version evokes the ocean waves breaking against the rocks. Though there is violence and turmoil, I take heart that creation is in the process of forming something new.

Stormy Flow is a meditation on the relation between light and dark. It is stormy because creation is happening. I can take heart in the turmoil and even violence because I know creation often is in process there. The light breaks up the darkness. The first stage in this composition was a spontaneous expression with oil pastels. Years later I have added digital dry brush.
