Govinda and Gopāla (Sanskrit/Hindi: गोविन्द/गोविंद and गोपाल) (also known as Govind, Gobind and Gopal) are the names of Vishnu which mean "The finder of Veda" & "Protector of Veda" as 'Go' means Veda, Cow and also senses. So Govinda, Gopala means Cowherd or Protector of Cows, or one who gives pleasure to senses.

Vintage 15th-century thangka of Panjaranata Mahakala - the protector for the Shri Hevajra cycle of Tantras. The iconography and rituals are found in the 18th chapter of the Vajra Panjara Tantra (canopy, or pavilion) a Sanskrit language text from India, and an exclusive 'explanatory tantra' to the Hevajra Tantra itself. It is from the name of this tantra that this specific form of Mahakala is known. 'Vajra Panjara' means the vajra enclosure, egg-shaped, created from vajra scepters large and small - all sizes, completely surrounding a Tantric Buddhist mandala. The name of the Tantra is Vajra Panjara and the name of the form of Mahakala taught in this Tantra is also Vajra Panjara. The full name for the protector is Vajra Panjara Nata Mahakala.

This composition is from a set of twenty-seven paintings of meditational deities commissioned by Situ Panchen Chokyi Jungne in the mid-1700s. The deity figures are painted in a Khyenri painting style following the original Gongkar Chode Monastery models. The landscape background follows a Chinese model. White Chakrasamvara, Life Accomplishing: together with various deities of the Chakrasamvara cycle of tantras from the lineages of Shakyashri Bhadra and Rechungpa.

At the center of this nine-deity Hevajra mandala, the sixteen-armed Hevajra embraces his consort Nairatmya. Their assembly comprises eight dancing yoginis. In the upper corners are two lineage holders, at the left the great Indian adept (mahasiddha) Dombi Heruka riding a tigress together with a consort, and at the right the Tibetan master Sachen Kunga Nyingpo (1092–1158), a pivotal figure in the transmission of the Hevajra Tantra. In the bottom corners are wrathful deities, Panjaranatha Mahakala at the left, the special protector of the Hevajra group of tantras and its practitioners, and the four-armed Dusolma at the right.

In this 16th-century tangka, the twelve-armed Chakrasamvara embracing his consort, Vajravarahi, is a highly charged vision by an advanced master of tantric Buddhism. Potent color dynamics add tension to the picture. The blue figure of Chakrasamvara has additional heads in yellow, green, and red (symbolizing the colors of the Jina “Victor” Buddhas). With his principal hands he grasps Vajravarahi and holds a bell and a thunderbolt scepter. Chakrasamvara’s iconography closely resembles that of Shiva (both have three eyes and hold a skull cup, trident, and elephant skin); such concordance of Buddhist and Hindu iconography has its origins in the tantrism of medieval eastern India.
