In an interview in 1987, then-prime minister Margaret Thatcher said "[people] are casting their problems on society and who is society? There is no such thing! There are individual men and women and there are families and no government can do anything except through people and people look to themselves first." We were all supposed to get ahead by our own efforts, with none of that Nanny State stuff or any collective way of helping each other. How's that working out? For those of us who are still bitter, this version offers society's verdict on Thatcher.
