Founded as the Dodge Brothers Company by brothers Horace Elgin Dodge and John Francis Dodge in the early 1900s, the brother's machine shop was originally a supplier of parts and assemblies to Detroit automakers. They began building complete automobiles as Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles in 1914. Their factory in Hamtramck, Michigan, a small city surrounded by Detroit, was the main factory from 1910 until it closed in January 1980. The brothers both died in 1920 and their families eventually sold the company to Dillon, Read & Co. in 1925. The original logo was a circle, with two Greek deltas intertwined, forming a six-pointed star with an interlocked "DB" at the center, and the words "Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles" encircled the outside edge.

Scarab (scarabaeus) is an important symbol in ancient Egyptian religion and mythology. The dung beetle (Scarabaeus sacer) lays its eggs in rolled up dung balls, thus giving its offspring food to survive. This beetle was associated with the divine manifestation of the early morning sun, Khepri, whose name was written with the scarab hieroglyph and who was believed to roll the disk of the morning sun over the eastern horizon at daybreak. Since the Kheper symbolizes existence, manifestation, development, growth, and effectiveness, the dung beetle was often used for amulets in all periods of Egyptian history.

This Ancient Egyptian inspired design by artist Jeff Bartels features a decorative scarab beetle with large wings. Two oval disks appear at the top and bottom of the pattern with a small ankh symbol in the center of the upper plate. The symmetrical design is decorated with intricate dots and lines which gives the pattern a sophisticated feel. The design is finished with rough textures and natural colors which gives this stylish Egyptian symbol a unique look.

The Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica), also known as the common puffin, is a species of seabird in the auk family. It is the only puffin native to the Atlantic Ocean; two related species, the tufted puffin and the horned puffin, are found in the northeastern Pacific. The Atlantic puffin breeds in Iceland, Norway, Greenland, Newfoundland and many North Atlantic islands, and as far south as Maine in the west and the British Isles in the east.
