After Ford’s dominating 1966 season, with 1-2-3 finishes at the Rolex 24, 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ferrari was looking for redemption. In preparation for the 1967 season Ferrari produced 2 new fuel injected 330 P4s and on reconditioned 330 P3. In late 1966 the three cars were flown to New York and trailered to Daytona for a private week of testing. During that testing Chris Amon, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 12 Hours of Sebring with Ford, compared the new Ferrari’s by saying “It’s rather like driving a truck compared to a car.” Amon’ s quote was a prelude to the 1967 season.
