All Saints Church, Old Isleworth, August 2020 All Saints Church, Old Isleworth (West London, England) stands beside the River Thames as it has done for centuries. Under a yew tree in the grounds of the church, marked by a small memorial stone, lies a mass grave, a 'plague pit', where the local victims of the plague of 1665 were buried. A poignant reminder that coronavirus was not the first pandemic to strike England's capital. It is estimated that 10% or more of the city's population were wiped out by the plague. And some people are still moaning about having to wear face masks - get over yourselves!! Date: 1st August 2020.
