What Life With A Chronic Illness Is Like: Ran Out Of Spoons is about Spoon Theory, a metaphor for how much energy (spoons) a person has available each day, and how spoonies have a limited number, forcing them to carefully plan each day to not run out of spoons.

Spoon Theory helps folks with chronic illnesses talk about energy levels! "I'm saving spoons today because I have a big presentation tomorrow." "I think it'll take too many spoons to shower today, so I'll just use dry shampoo today and shower tomorrow." "I used up my spoons faster than I thought today, so I think I'd better go home." Juggling comorbidities is no picnic. One diagnosis leads to another, which triggers the next, and so on. Managing each diagnosis on its own is enough work, let alone managing several different disorders and syndromes. We might as well have some fun with it.
