The sun bursts through storm clouds lingering just offshore from Adelaide's Glenelg Beach.

I could see storm clouds ahead of me on the highway as I headed towards Woolongong, so when I saw a sign that said "Sublime Point Lookout," I immediately turned off to see if there was a clear view ahead. I couldn't believe the thunderhead that greeted me there -- one that was so big and full of lightning that I only snapped a few shots (and didn't dare pull out a tripod) before it was nearly right overhead.

As I drove home last weekend, I could see in my rearview mirror that the sunset was going to be a good one. Luckily I was able to get off the motorway and find this spot next to the Maroochy River to watch as the sky exploded in colour!

On the McWay waterfall track in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, you get an amazing view of McWay Falls plummeting over the cliffs and onto the beach below. I found it very hard to tear myself away from that view, but I had to so I could move further up the track and watch the sunset over the ocean. What a perfect way to end the day. I'm a bit jealous of Julia Pfeiffer Burns, who used to live in this area and got to see this view whenever she wanted!

How lucky was it that my first photo of the night also had the brightest shooting star of the night? The skies over Bicheno on Tassie's east coast left me completely in awe.

I went to Camden Head to see the beach, so it was just happenstance that I saw a sign for a lookout and headed up to the Charles Hamey lookout. Just off the carpark, you can almost see this view; a short, ~1km walk will take you further into the woods and eventually bring you out to this amazing lookout, where you can look across the ocean and inland towards Dunbogan and Laurieton.

When I headed down to the small town of Laurieton in New South Wales' Mid North Coast a few weeks ago, I knew I had to make it out to the beach for at least one sunrise. While the colours weren't spectacular, the sunrise and the early morning golden light still did not disappoint as I wandered along the rocky edge of the beach at Camden Head.

This was the view we climbed Mount Amos for, and it absolutely did not disappoint. What a spot to have a picnic lunch!

This section of road, stretching along the eastern shores of Lake Wakatipu, has earned itself the name 'the Devil's Staircase' due to its continuous turns, ascents, and descents. Unlike the Devil's Staircase on the Tongariro Crossing, which really did have me swearing by the end, this one was a lot of fun!

The sky begins to light up in pink (about 20 mins before sunrise) over one of the many boathouses standing on the southern edge of the Maroochy River on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

On our last morning at Cradle Mountain, we woke up to a winter wonderland. Everything was coated in a fine layer of snow, and since we knew we had to leave the area reasonably early, we got down to Dove Lake so early that we saw much of it completely untouched -- and completely silent. I'd forgotten how much I loved the feeling of standing in the complete and utter silence as snow falls all around me.

On our last day on Hamilton Island, we decided to take the plunge and book a helicopter ride over Whitehaven Beach. It was 20 minutes of beautiful island and reef views, capped by this amazing scene at Whitehaven's Hill Inlet.

We were worried that the Bicheno Blowhole wasn't going to be very impressive, but just before we walked away, a massive wave crashed in underneath the rocks and created this massive blow. It was pretty cool -- and very loud!

It's a double rainbow -- just. The faint double rainbow is really trying to come out! Taken on the drive between Bicheno and St Marys on Tasmania's east coast.
