This is an image of some lily pads floating in a pond on the Biltmore Estate, near Asheville in North Carolina. I loved the arrangement of the lily pads but found the underwater detail distracting. To counter this, I've taken some artistic licence by isolating that part of the image and darkening it to a point where it is essentially black. This has given the lily pads and flower the surreal quality of floating, as if in space.

I visited the Biltmore Estate just outside Asheville, North Carolina a few years ago, where on display, throughout the gardens and some in the house, was an extensive collection of Chihuly Glass. This image focuses on lovely, reed-like glass sculptures that sat in a pond near the house. The translucent light passing through the mauve sculptures gave them a radiance that was quite lovely.

This lovely image is of a tree canopy in the forest on the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I spent a wonderful week near Asheville exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and the trails that lead from it. I was really taken with the abundance of trees.

In this captivating photograph, we are transported into a mesmerizing future where an ethereal jellyfish gracefully floats amidst the vibrant hues of an otherworldly seascape. It was late in 1981, when a rare snow storm hit London. The traffic was at an almost standstill, cars slithering and sliding, but it was also a rare chance to see snow lying thick. This image, originally captured on film, depicts a time shortly before sunset. The snow over the previous night had seen some melting but as it cooled the partly thawed snow was turning to ice. I've always loved this image as the icy remnants remind me animals walking along the branch.

This is the Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, in the early evening. The tourists stroll along the polished stone pavement in search of a restaurant, a souvenir, a memory of their time in this extraordinary, medieval city. The mood is exciting; people are exploring and enjoying their time in this enchanting place. I love this image, and I hope you do too!

It was a damp, overcast day as we walked along the Stradun, the main street in Dubrovnik's old city. We had been told by a guide a few days earlier that the old shop fronts incorporated an entrance way and a serving hatch, so the shops were quite small with many of these lined up along the building. Of course time has moved on so several of these old shops could now be one business. In this instance, "Leandro" is a fairly high-end business that mainly caters to tourists with a taste for a new watch. The entrance was a door or two along. In capturing the image, I wanted to capture the unique framing of the shop front, the wonderful limestone on the face of the building and street, but also highlight the window display. Southern Ontario is home to thousands of farms, each with at least one barn. Although I don't come from a farming background, I do see the nobility in these utilitarian buildings. The simplicity of their designs, the robustness of their construction. Yes there are variations on the theme, but their place on the landscape always looks so right. This image depicts a well maintained barn. It's clearly old judging by the field stone construction of its lower portion. The barn boards are weather worn and aged, and the metal roof has a rust coloured patina, but it seems to have faced the test of time with the fortitude its builders intended. The small silo adds to the scene. They have an overall sense of belonging in this rural landscape.

This image is of the Bayfield piers as they project out into Lake Huron. It was an early spring day, the ice had gone leaving the lake waters this amazing turquoise colour. The blue of the sky seemed to blend seamlessly with the water to create a gentle colour gradient The day was so calm that the water was almost textureless. It was a sight to behold.

This artwork, originally captured on slide film, depicts golden maple leaves against a deep blue sky. The leaves above cast ochre and darker shadows upon the translucent leaves, and the dark tracery of twigs produce a filigree across the image.

I love the freshness of this image. Spring is moving forward with a new crop of leaves on the trees, and yet there is testimony to the previous year with the carpet of old leaves on the ground. The cycle begins again. The image was originally captured on film in woods just south of Reading in England in 1982.

Her regal presence exudes strength, grace, and a touch of cyberpunk mystique. This artwork is a celebration of diversity, elegance, and the unbridled creativity, adorned in an array of colorful, luminescent jewels.

This image depicts the old port of Marseille at night. I loved the colour of the light reflecting from the boats moored there and the distant, illuminated buildings. I hope you like it as much I do.
