Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz This resort is located on the far south end of The Strip, Las Vegas Blvd. It is known for its pools and lazy rivers, having been voted "Best Pool of Las Vegas" award for seven years in a row. It also boasts great restaurants, theatre shows and much more.

Pioneer Club Las Vegas was a casino that opened in 1942 and was located in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, at 25 East Fremont Street. It ceased operating as a casino in 1995, the same year the Fremont Street Experience was completed.

Eiffel Tower Replica at Paris Hotel - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz Known as Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino located in the heart of the Strip, Las Vegas Blvd. Original plans for the Eiffel Tower called for a full-scale replica, however that would have interfered with the nearby McCarran Airport and designers therefore reduced it to approximately 1:2 scale (540 feet). The hotel is 33 stories tall. A unique architectural aspect of the Paris is that the back legs of its Eiffel Tower actually come down through the ceiling into the casino floor. You can ride to the top just as you can in Paris, France.

the Lotus Inn Motor Hotel & Casino was located at 1213 Las Vegas Blvd. South in Las Vegas, NV from the years of 1973 until 1978. It wasn't a huge place and boasted a Japanese temple exterior similar to that of the Imperial Palace which would open just a year after the Lotus Inn closed.

he El Morocco started out as a bar with slot machines on the West side of Las Vegas; when it opened in 1945 it was one of the few places where African-Americans could go to gamble in Las Vegas. This was a time when African-Americans were not allowed inside of the casinos in downtown Las Vegas or on the nascent strip. the El Morocco stood out as one club that although its history was brief was not totally forgotten by the passage of time.

Linq Promenade - High Roller Ferris Wheel - Las Vegas by Debra Martz This is only part of what the LInq promenade has to offer and was new to me on my visit as it had been several years since I had been there. I knew I wanted to ride The High Roller Ferris Wheel, standing 550 tall. What I didn't know about was the promenade that you walk through from the Las Vegas Strip which runs parallel with the ferris wheel. It is an outdoor retail, dining and entertainment plaza, where The LINQ Promenade offers several different experiences all in one place at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas Club was a hotel and casino located on the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas Club opened in 1930, joining the Las Vegas Hotel which had opened in 1908. The Las Vegas Club was relocated across the street in 1949. At its new location, the Las Vegas Club operated within the Overland Hotel, which was established in 1905.

Barbary Coast was a hotel and casino located between the Flamingo and Bally's on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The hotel was owned by Boyd Gaming and was built by Michael Gaughan in 1979. The hotel was closed to be renamed to Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon. The Barbary Coast was home of Drai's After Hours, a restaurant nightclub that is still open to this day.

The Landmark was a hotel and casino located in Winchester, Nevada, east of the Las Vegas Strip and across from the Las Vegas Convention Center. The resort included a 31-floor tower, inspired by the design of the Space Needle tower in Seattle. Frank Caroll, the project's original owner, purchased the property in 1961. Billionaire Howard Hughes, through Hughes Tool Company, purchased the Landmark in 1969

Retro Vintage Fitzgerald's Hotel Casino Las Vegas. in 1987, the Sundance was sold to Lincoln Management Group (later Fitzgeralds Gaming) and renamed as Fitzgeralds Las Vegas.

The Desert Inn, also known as the D.I., was a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, which operated from April 24, 1950, to August 28, 2000 it was the fifth resort to open on the Strip The closure of the Desert Inn in 2000 and subsequent demolition was unpopular with many as it seemed to mark the end of old Las Vegas. Historian Michael Green stated: "To a lot of people outside of Las Vegas, these two places (the Desert Inn and the Sands) really meant Las Vegas. These were the places that represent the images of Las Vegas, in a far greater way than the Dunes, the Aladdin, the Hacienda and the Landmark

Vegas World was a space-themed casino and hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was owned and operated by Bob Stupak, and was also signed as Bob Stupak's Vegas World. Stupak initially opened a small casino, Bob Stupak's World Famous Million-Dollar Historic Gambling Museum and Casino, on the property in 1974, but it was destroyed in a fire later that year. Bellagio Kabuki and Crane by Debra Martz The Bellagio Horticulture and Engineering teams transform the 14,000-square-foot Conservatory and Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents and colors. When the seasons change so do the displays. This was a main part of a Spring display in which a 35 foot tall Kabuki figure comprised of 5,000 flowers, holds a 25-foot-tall Samurai sword, symbolizing power and protection, in one hand, and a 4-foot-wide white pearl, symbolizing prosperity and beauty, in the other. Two 4 foot cranes are visible from every vantage point; however, I've only included one in this composition. The settlement of Las Vegas, Nevada was founded in 1905 after the opening of a railroad that linked Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Urbanization took off in 1931 when work started on the Boulder Dam (now the Hoover Dam), bringing a huge influx of young male workers, for whom theaters and casinos were built, largely by the Mafia. Electricity from the dam also enabled the building of many new hotels along the Strip. The arrival of Howard Hughes in 1966 did much to offset mob influence and helped turn Las Vegas into more of a family tourist center, now classified as a Mega resort. defunct casino
