Red foxes have overtaken grey wolves as the most widespread canines in the wild. Distributed throughout the northern hemisphere, red foxes are highly adaptable and occupy territories in deserts and tundra as well as urban areas. They live in family groups in dens and eat most things including small mammals, fruit, carrion and the contents of dustbins. As well as having excellent vision, smell and touch these bushy-tailed true foxes can produce 28 different calls. I have given this a painterly finish using Photoshop CC and Topaz

This wild Fox was spotted near Holywell Pond in Northumberland on which were numerous ducks, geese and swans which would have been perfect for his dinner. It is unusual to see these lovely animals in the open during daylight, and he seemed perfectly happy to pose for a few photographs!

The common fox or red fox, also called raposo or raboso, is a species of mammal of the canidae family, with a holoartic distribution, although it was also introduced to Australia in the 19th century. It is a silent and very cautious animal that hunts on all at night.

I was lucky enough to have a close encounter with this adorable young fox - a silver morph of the red fox - in Banff National Park. Curious and intelligent, this guy gave me a long look before loping off into the wild!
