Such pride as he sticks out his chest and casually tilts his head to one side! Our Posing Cardinal is enjoying every minute of this attention. This whimsical acrylic painting features a cardinal perched on a tree branch. The sky behind serves as a lovely lavender and pale blue background. This is experimental , just playing with watercolour , and patterns. I quite enjoy doing this kind of whimsical design. Very spontaneous . I just go for it and make it up as I go.

Recognizing one's self in others...

This was created with a very special girl in mind.She is delightful and strong, and she has the most beautiful smile. She also happens to have a twin sister. I will also be posting her painting , shortly. Love my Matilda, my beautiful grand daughter. It's watercolour on watercolour paper. Not sure if this painting is finished, or if I will work on it some more to make it better, but for now, it is going to stay as is.

Realistic meets whimsical. Watercolor and ink painting.

Watercolour painting on Arches cotton watercolour paper. 23 cm x 31 cm . Birds which are loosely inspired by the bird life where I live. I am not interested in painting realistic birds, because that is not interesting to me. I much prefer playing with abstract shapes, and colour, and I love to draw and paint without much of a plan, and see what shows up. It is similar to going out without a plan, and just going with the flow, and making it up as you go. I love being in the moment, and the act of creating.
