In April 1968, police were alerted that a bus had skidded off the road on Deer Creek Mountain Road in Ventura County. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by nine nubile young women running around naked despite the chilly night. The rickety-looking 1952 school bus, had been driven by a bearded man with piercing eyes, who identified himself as Charles Manson. Manson, of no known address, was booked in the local county jail as prisoner No. 47623 after producing two driver’s licenses, neither of which appeared to be valid. The nude women with him were also booked on various minor charges and the newborn also in their care was taken to country medical.
