STRATIFICATION Sticker

*Fishes moving rapidly through the water column* ~ identifying these without the use of the camera would be pretty difficult! Sat back at home ~ zooming in to work on detail ~ I still found these clupeids tricky to ID. At first I thought I'd captured a double exposure of the fishes as it seemed that there were 'two distinct eyes' to each fish... as yet I am still not 100% sure ~ but *dark spots* are found behind the operculum of clupeids such as the *Northern Pilchard* and the *Hamilton's Anchovy*.
