Smokey Solar Cross This symbol may be the most oldest cosmological symbol of them all. The earliest examples of the Solar Cross date back 11 thousand years, well into neolithic times. It is a symbol of the cyclical nature of time and can represent the day/night cycle, the orbit of the earth around the sun to create the year with its cycle of four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn (Fall) and Winter. Its cyclical nature also makes it a symbol of Fortune and the impermanence of both tragedy and success. For this reason it may be treated as a good luck symbol. It is a likely precursor to many symbols in eastern religion and mysticism including the Wheel of Dharma and the Ying Yang.
