Pugs are historic Chinese dogs that came to Europe as early as the 16th century. They're very popular for their large eyes and short muzzles, a mug that has made them popular in movies and print. These short noses often make them snore and snuffle, but they also lead to respiratory issues, so a movement has started to breed healthier anatomy back into them.

The Tornjak is a sturdy herding dog from the region of Bosnia, Herzegovina, and Croatia, but actually hail form as far back as the Holy Roman Empire. Tornjaks were used by the Romans as herders, but also as war dogs and even gladiatorial entertainment. An old saying in their homeland goes “A Tornjak guarding his flock is a fair match to two wolves,” which should speak to how passionate they are at their jobs. Although the breed has a long history, it nearly went extinct in the 1970s but was saved when breed enthusiasts in Bosnia and the surrounding regions went searching for dogs that matched the descriptions of the dogs in ancient manuscripts. By 1981 there were 200 pedigreed Tornjaks registered and by 2017 they were officially registered

Poodles are one of the most famous and recognizable breeds in the world. They're synonymous with French high society, but theory has it that they were actually bred in Germany as water dogs. They are known for their thick, curly, hair-like coat that is famous for shedding less than furrier coats which has led to a lot of cross-breeding to cultivate this coat.
