I had an opportunity to visit the Alton Mill Arts Center located in an historic mill. The Historic Alton Mill Art Centre, located in the village of Alton, Ontario is home to 20 studio artists galleries, heritage museum, café and unique shops. This stone mill complex was constructed by William Algie as ‘The Beaver Knitting Mill,’ (circa 1891). It was known nationwide for its fleece-lined long underwear. The Western Rubber Co. retooled the facility in 1935 to manufacture latex goods including party balloons and rubber gloves. Operations ceased in 1982 and the building sat neglected for a number of years. Restoration was undertaken in 1997 and completed in 2009 as The Alton Mill Art Centre. The River Pang as it flows through the village of Tidmarsh in West Berkshire. The view here is just below historic Tidmarsh Mill, the home of Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington between 1917 and 1924. Here the artists and writers of the Bloomsbury set would meet. The River Pang, one of England's ecologically valued chalk streams, starts its life on the Berkshire Downs near Compton (depending on rainfall!) and supports a wide variety of wildlife.

This photograph was taken at a beautiful park near me. One winter, for the first time, I was able to see the creek through the trees and this was my view. I thought it was striking and sad.

What is normally a very active waterfall along Mill Creek in Ansted WV. The low water exposed a little cavelet.

The Tide Mill and River Deben on a February afternoon.

The tide mill on the River Deben quayside at Woodbridge, Suffolk. This is the 'newest' of the mills that have stood on this site having been built in the 1600s. The earliest recorded mill here was in 1170. During th middle ages it was run by the local Augustinian priory but at the time of the Dissolution it passed into the hands of Henry VIII. It operated until 1957 sfter which it became derelict. However, following subsequent restoration it was re-opened in 1973.

Babcock State Park is a state park located along the New River Gorge on 4,127 acres (16.7 km2) wooded in Fayette County, West Virginia. It is located approximately 20 miles away from the New River Gorge Bridge. Located near the park headquarters, the Glade Creek Grist Mill is commonly photographed. It was named in honor of Edward V. Babcock. Completed in 1976 by combining parts of three other West Virginia mills, it is a replica of the original Cooper's Mill that was located nearby. The park's web site describes the Glade Creek Grist Mill as a living, working monument to the more than 500 mills that used to be located throughout the state.

Gator Bait

The Abbey Mill in the ancient town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. It stands on a stretch nof the River Avon appropriately called the Mill Avon. Although now residential, the mill started life in about 1190 asd the corn mill for the nearby abbey. It is said that the monks excavated the Mill Avon - joining further on with the River Severn - to drive the water wheel. It was then rebuilt in 1793 and had four uindershot wheels - the remains of one still in evidence. It ceased working in 1920. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200
