There is an abundance of wild flowers amongst the dunes along the seven mile stretch of beach at Druridge Bay in Northumberland, including many delicate Harebells (Campanula rotendifolia) such as the ones photographed here. The delicate nodding bluebells flower between July and September.

These Water Lilies were photographed on South Newsham Reservoir near Blyth in Northumberland on a bright morning and the sunshine seemed to illuminate the flower giving it a glow.

A clump of Wild Garlic which was found in the Ha'penny Woods at Bedlington, Northumberland where they grow profusely in late spring, filling the air with their strong garlic smell. The leaves of Wild Garlic (Allium ursinium) are edible; they can be used as salad, herb, boiled as a vegetable, in soup, or as an ingredient for pesto in lieu of basil.

The lighthouse on St. Mary’s Island in Whitley Bay, Northumberland, was constructed in 1898 using some of the stone from the former priory on the island. St. Mary’s lighthouse was decommissioned in 1984m after which North Tyneside Council opened it as a visitor attraction. The lighthouse became a Grade II listed building in 2012 and St. Mary’s Island is now a nature reserve.

These wild flowers were spotted in Ridley Park, Blyth, Northumberland. The bed was planted in 2015 as part of a national scheme to encourage native English wild flowers and it now abundant with many colourful species.

After a foggy morning, the dew gathered on a spider's web providing a beautiful pattern to which I added a Craquelure texture to enhance the background and allow the web to stand out. The web had been spun from dead Cow Parsley plants in Blyth, Northumberland.
