A 45 rpm adapter (also 45 rpm record insert, 45 rpm spindle adapter, 7-inch adapter or spider, the common size of 45 RPM records) is a small plastic or metal insert that goes in the middle of a 45-rpm record so it can be played on the standard size spindle of a turntable. The adapter could be a small solid circle that fits onto the spindle (meaning only one 45 could be played at a time) or a larger adapter that fits over the entire spindle of a record changer, permitting a stack of 45s to be played. These are often referred to as 45 spindles. A few manufacturers supplied a complete change of spindle for 45s.

The Standard Talking Machine Company was an American record label created in October 1901 and operated until March 1918. The Chicago, Illinois based company distributed several models of phonographs from Columbia Graphophone Company parts and issued single-sided and double-sided disc records from Columbia Records masters. Despite the label name, the discs were not quite ’Standard’; the spindle hole at the center of the discs was 9/16 inch, larger than the industry standard. This made discs produced by other companies such as Victor and Columbia unable to be played upon Standard Disc phonographs, entrapping the buyer into purchasing only Standard Disc records.

In 1908, the Sonora Chime Company of New York City patented its system of chiming bells for clocks, and the company began using the motto "clear as a bell" for their products. As time marched on, Sonora did its best to stay relevant, and began producing record players as the Sonora Phonograph Company in 1913. Throughout the Great Depression, Sonora saw rough times, but survived to emerge from bankruptcy in 1938 as the Sonora Radio and Television Corporation, and began producing radios. From stylish portable models to more traditional furniture type units, Sonora successfully positioned themselves as a premium radio brand at the upper tier of the market. Sonora radios became popular in France, and later much of Europe.

Refuge Records was a contemporary Christian music record label founded in 1980 by Greg Nelson, Jack Hafer and Ray Nenow. One imprint of Refuge was Pure Metal Records, although Star Song Communications bought out that branch in 1990. The label had Doug Mann, future founder of R.E.X. Records, as an employee.

Allied Forces is the fifth studio album by Canadian hard rock band Triumph, released in 1981, and is largely considered to be their signature record. The title track was the first single from the record, which was released a month before the album came out. Allied Forces reached #23 on the pop albums chart assisted by the singles "Magic Power" and "Fight the Good Fight," which hit #8 and #18, respectively, on the US mainstream rock chart of 1981.

Slap a Ham Records was an independent label from San Francisco owned and operated by Chris Dodge. The label lasted for about 13 years, officially shutting down in 2002. According to Dodge, this was due because of the September 11 attacks; "After the attacks, everyone stopped spending money" and as a result, Slap a Ham faced stagnate commerce, causing Dodge to go into debt.

On November 8, 1968, classic music station 98.5 FM KXRQ emerged from months of silence as KZAP after being purchased by Lee Gahagan. The new free form radio station quickly found its groove and had an immediate impression on the large college crowd in Sacramento. Playing an eclectic mix of rock 'n roll music, KZAP was a very much a college radio station that appealed to a youth audience that had never really bought into the other commercial stations. The station remained extremely progressive, and was the first station in the United States to air a commercial for condoms and was an early adopter of Stereo Quadraphonic sound technology. When Gahagan unexpectedly died in 1972, KZAP settled into an album-oriented rock format.

The Dead Boys' 1977 debut is among the greatest punk albums ever made, so a follow-up was going to be tough. The band's label was convinced they had commercial potential, so to insure success, they brought in Felix Pappalardi to produce their 1978 follow up, We Have Come For Your Children. Pappalardi was best known as the bassist for rock band Mountain, and his job was to reign in the Boys. Unfortunately, he was so successful that he ruined a lot of what was great about the Dead Boys. Recording was problematic, and sessions were halted when the band became convinced that Pappalardi didn't understand their music. The band tried, but were unsuccessful to get another producer; so the album was pushed out, and they broke up a short time later.
