A rural scene in Cumbria.

The morning sun casts brilliant patterns of colorful light across the sky above the rolling hills of Finger Tree Forest. Handy trees wave a sweet hello above a cutaway bank that reveals a myriad of interesting rock formations held in place by a pile of large boulders near a big pink flower surrounded by multicolor pansies. In the foreground, a stone footpath follows a narrow meadow of green grass and pale blue daisies beside a cool rippling stream, so perfect to dip two toes in. These rolling hills, at the base of the Palo Prieto Pass, were formed by slippage of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates. According to my GPS location at the time I took this photo, I was on the Pacific Plate. The hills you see here, are on the North American Plate. The culvert in the foreground is the San Andreas Fault. The cows have no idea how close to danger they are. ;-)
