Odin. God mask. Runes Hagalaz and Mannaz mean the names of the Odin's ravens Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory). They, along with the wolves Geri and Freki bring to Odin information from all over Midgard, day and night. This is evidenced by the Sun-Sol and Moon-Mani. In the middle, as a symbol of the continuity of life - Triskelion. At the bottom is a Odin's spear Gungnir was fashioned by the dwarves known as the Sons of Ivaldi.

A bind rune (Icelandic: bandrún) is a ligature of two or more runes. They are extremely rare in Viking Age inscriptions, but are common in earlier (Proto-Norse) and later (medieval) inscriptions. On some runestones, bind runes may have been ornamental and used to highlight the name of the carver.

The Norse god Thor is known for his magical hammer. This artwork depicts Thor’s hammer named Mjölnir flanked by two ravens. In the handle of the hammer, you’ll see the two goats that pull Thor’s chariot across the sky.

Fenrir, “He Who Dwells in the Marshes” is the most infamous of the many wolves in Norse mythology. His importance for the pre-Christian Scandinavians is demonstrated by his being depicted on numerous surviving runestones, not to mention his ubiquity in Old Norse literary sources. He’s the son of the god Loki and the giantess Angrboda, which makes him the brother of the serpent Jormungand and the underworld goddess Hel. As is recounted more fully in the tale The Binding of Fenrir, the Aesir gods raised Fenrir themselves in order to keep him under their control and prevent him from wreaking havoc throughout the Nine Worlds.

New design for the Nordic Collection! On this work I’m using a real old design from the viking times: a figurine that represents one valkyrie.

Thor, son of Odin, god of Thunder, protector of Midgard. Thor was a popular Norse god among the common farmers of Scandinavia and other Germanic speaking cultures as he was a protector of the people. Thor’s magical war hammer, Mjölnir, is the centerpiece of my artwork here. Mjölnir pendants were worn by many including the Vikings in the Middle Ages as a symbol of Thor’s protection and strength. Thor continues to be a popular figure in modern culture.

Most are familiar with Thor, god of thunder, and his war hammer, Mjölnir, but from whence did this mighty, magical mallet materialize? Mjölnir was forged by two bristly dwarf brothers who lived deep in the caverns of the dwarf homeland, Svartalfheim. The artwork representing this story has many of the details from the mythology. If you look closely, you can see all the gifts created by the dwarves scattered around them with the mighty Mjölnir sitting at the center above the anvil. You can see the trickster, Loki in fly form near Brokkr’s eye. Mjölnor has such great weight and importance in mythology and in contemporary culture that I think the back story to its creation is important and interesting. I think this piece captures...
