One of England's great walks: the route along Hadrian's Wall. However you don't need to walk all the way: there is a road with many stopping points which give wonderful views of this World Heritage Site. Hadrian's Wall (Latin: Vallum Aelium) was a defensive fortification in Roman Britain, begun in AD 122 during the rule of emperor Hadrian. In addition to its military role, gates through the wall served as customs posts. At various intervals it had forts and towns to support the military who guarded the outpost. Canon EOS, zoom lens. Vilafranca de Bonany is a small rural town located on the road connecting Palma and Manacor.

Campos, Mallorca is known for its extensive stretches of sandy beach and turquoise waters.

A narrowboat moored on the banks of the Thames at Lechlade in Gloucestershire on an overcast afternoon, close to the Oxfordshire border and right at the southernmost tip of the Cotswolds. Here we are also at the highest navigable point of the river - St John'sLlock just below this scene being the first (or last) to navigate. Just further upstream the river becomes narrower and shallower - the river looking very little like the mighty Thames flowing through London!

Looking over the meadows to the picturesque village of Aldworth in Berkshire. The village sits on the heights of the Berkshire (North Wessex) Downs just before they plunge down to the Thames at Streatley. Just to the north, the ancient Ridgeway track passes on its way from the Chilterns to Avebury in Wiltshire. In the image is the parish church of St Mary which contains huige effigies of armoured knights - members of the De La Beche family. These are often called The Aldworth Giants!
