Oh I do love to be beside the sea

Lake Erie beaches are home to stone-washed bricks. Long ago, a brick company in Ohio used to dump their waste into the great lake. The bricks have been tossed around by waves and tumbled upon the rocks of the lake, resulting in these smooth-edged beach bricks. I'm going to make mine into candle holders.

Blackpool has been famous for many years for it's illuminations and it's cheap and cheerful seaside fun, but recently it has become the home of some of the best graffiti artworks in the UK. Every summer, for the last 3 years there is a festival called Sun, sea, sand and spray where famous graffiti artists are invited from around UK and Europe to come and paint their artwork in various locations around the town. They paint on the sides of old buildings, on the walls of open air carparks and on specially placed canvasses and the work is so good it attracts visitors from far and wide. Down at the Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas one can see little ducklings quite often. It is fun to watch them learn how to swim, or how to jump in the murky waters after their moms. And yes, the waters are murky. I do like the browns as back drop to the drucks. It almost looks like it was painted. There is canoeing on this Bayou but let me tell you, I wouldn't want to go in there.. I have seen black snakes, turtles, fish and egrets. But it is the snakes that keep me away.
