Back to my 2013 Paris trip. This is an image of Fontaine du Palmier, which was built in honor of Napoleon's victories. It is located at Place du Châtelet, (1st arrondissement within Paris). It is the largest surviving fountain from the Empire, built in the form of a Roman triumphal column with the names of Napoleon's victories and bas reliefs on the column, with a statue of Victory on the top. The name comes from the palm-leaf decoration just below the statue. The base of the column is decorated with four figures representing Prudence, Vigilance, Justice and Strength. In 1856, for some reason the column was moved and placed on a new pedestal ornamented with four sphinxes and two basins of water. All images are Copyright © 2015...

Moqui Cave is a sandstone erosion cave in southern Utah. It was once used by Anasazi people as a shelter and a food store. It was rediscovered by white settlers in the 19th century, and served as a speakeasy in the 1920s during Prohibition. In 1951, the cave was purchased by a local family who transformed it into a tavern and a dance hall the following year. It became a local a tourist attraction and a museum shortly after. The cave currently contains a substantial rock collection, including many ultraviolet-fluorescent minerals, fossils, pottery, spear points, American Indian artifacts and art, dinosaur tracks (estimated to be over 140 million years old), and displays about the Anasazi. The oldest of the three bridges which cross the Firth of Forth in the west of Scotland. This iconic steel cantilever structure - a symbol of Scotland's engineering heritage - connects Fife on the north bank and West Lothian in the south - just west of Edinburgh. It was voted Scotland's greatest man-made structure in 2016 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction started in 1882 and the bridge was opened by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII, in 1890.

The Forth Rail Bridge here as a digitally produced stylised graphic drawing. This was produced from my original image captured just before passing under the bridge. This image shows the southern side of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral (Our Lady of Paris) in Paris, photographed from across the River Seine. It is a historic Catholic cathedral situated on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. Perusing through my Paris portfolio from a visit that I did back in 2013, I came across these couple of images of Versailles. In the next few months, I will be processing and posting images from the interior of the castle. Until then, you will have to settle for these remaining ones of the exterior.
